A few things to know

## Before the first tap.

When can I download TapChi?

TapChi is available free on [Google Play for Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.taoftware.tapchi&utm_source=tapchi_website&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=free_offline_launch_20261021). The iPhone version is awaiting App Store review. Its download link will appear here after the app is publicly released.

Can I add a food that isn't in the catalog?

Yes. The app's personal-food flow lets you save a name and portion, add nutrition you have, and choose your own photo. It does not invent missing nutrition values.

What is included in the free release?

Food logging, basic calorie and macro statistics, personal foods and recipes, the offline published recipe library, local profiles and reminders are included. This release has no account, purchases, cloud sync, backup service, watch companion or food sounds.

Does TapChi work offline?

Yes. Food logging, the bundled food catalog, personal recipes and the published recipe library work offline. Optional barcode lookup uses Open Food Facts and needs internet access. Opening original recipe websites also needs a connection.

Can I find vegan or regional recipes?

Yes, where the original publisher supplies those tags. Combine dietary tags with regions, cuisines, meal types and a difficulty limit. Labels may be incomplete; read the full ingredient list for your needs. Kosher and halal labels are not certifications.

Where does my food diary go?

Your diary, personal foods and recipes, photos and ratings stay on your device. Optional barcode lookup and Android scanner diagnostics have separate network data flows, explained in the [privacy policy](https://tapchi.app/privacy).

Does this preview save anything?

No. These sample selections exist only while this page is open. They do not create a journal, save food records, or send selections to a server.
